Alpha Phi Sigma is the national honor society for students enrolled in accredited criminal justice and security programs. The society recognizes scholastic excellence by undergraduate and graduate students in the criminal justice sciences.
Note: Eta Theta Honor Society Information: The University of Phoenix is awaiting final approval of our Eta Theta chapter from the Internal Revenue Service, through Alpha Phi Sigma. Eligible students have been identified; we will be sending out invitations to apply for membership upon receipt of approval. University of Phoenix Criminal Justice graduates in attendance in 2005, 2006, and/or 2007 who meet eligibility requirements will be invited to apply for membership.
The mission of Alpha Phi Sigma is to promote critical thinking, rigorous scholarship, and life-long learning; to keep abreast of the advances in scientific research, to elevate the ethical standards of the criminal justice professions and to sustain in the public mind the benefit and necessity of education and professional training.
- Promoting academic excellence through the recognition of scholarship.
- Assisting in the development of professional and personal leadership among students and practitioners.
- Providing opportunities for service to the community and the profession.
- Encouraging greater communication among member chapters and the entire criminal justice profession.
Students can become a member of the Eta Theta chapter if they are enrolled in a criminal justice degree program at the University of Phoenix and meet both the Alpha Phi Sigma and Eta Theta membership requirements.
