How can I become a member of Eta Theta?
You can become a member of Eta Theta if you are a student enrolled in a criminal justice degree program at the University of Phoenix and meet the requirements that are listed on the Eligibility page of the Eta Theta Chapter Web site.
When can I become a member of Eta Theta?
Eta Theta, in conjunction with the University of Phoenix, looks at each criminal justice/security student as of December 31st of each year. This is done automatically. In other words, students do not need to express interest to be included in our eligibility review each December.
The Campus Assistant Advisor (Campus College Chair) then reviews the list of eligible students, and determines who will receive an invitation. The invitation to join Eta Theta is sent in March of each year.
NOTE: It is up to each invited student to respond and indicate his/her interest to be accepted into the chapter.
Who is ineligible to become a member of Eta Theta?
Please note that students who are currently on Academic Probation or who have had a documented University of Phoenix Code of Conduct violation are not eligible for membership in Eta Theta.
I am a new member of Eta Theta and I want to wear my honor cord at graduation. Do I have to order one?
At the induction ceremony new members will receive their membership packets; however, you must contact Alpha Phi Sigma to order graduation honor cords and other regalia. You may also contact your Regional Advisor or Campus Assistant Advisor for more information.
I was invited for membership and returned the application and dues but haven’t heard anything. What is the process at this point?
After the application due date, Eta Theta sends the membership information to Alpha Phi Sigma national headquarters. They will then create packets and mail them out to us in May. New members are sent a letter in late April or early May that includes information about attending a local induction ceremony. At the induction ceremony, new members will receive their membership packets. You may also contact Alpha Phi Sigma national headquarters to order graduation honor cords and other regalia.
What if I am unable to attend a local induction or there isn’t one in my area?
If you are unable to attend a local induction ceremony, your Campus Assistant Advisors will mail your membership materials and cord to you. You will still be inducted in absencia.
I am a member of another Alpha Phi Sigma chapter. How can I transfer my membership to Eta Theta?
Please review the transfer criteria outlined on the Eligibility page of the Eta Theta chapter Web site.
I am a member of Eta Theta and I want to be more involved with the chapter. How can I do that?
We love that question! Please contact your Regional Advisor or Campus Assistant Advisor. He or she will be able to inform you of any opportunities.
I am a member of other non-Alpha Phi Sigma honor societies. What does this mean for my membership in Eta Theta?
Membership in Alpha Phi Sigma is not based on membership in any other organization. All students, regardless of membership in any other honor societies, must qualify and join Alpha Phi Sigma like other students must do
